Thy-Van: Art is important to me because it allows me to show people my point of view on the world and it’s a very valuable way to express myself.

Saint Scroll: What makes it different from other ways of expression?

Thy-Van: Instead of just traditional words, books, writing, speaking, I think it’s a more visual way of seeing things.

Saint Scroll: What role do you think it plays within society?

Thy-Van: Yeah, I think art can hold very important messages, for example political cartoons or propaganda.

Saint Scroll: What do you think makes it special?

Thy-Van: I think it doesn’t discriminate, a lot of people don’t know how to read, some populations don’t know how to read but they can still understand and visualize through art.

Thy-Van: Clay.

Thy-Van: I start with a vision, I always begin creating only after I’ve really thought about it and it kind of just appears in my mind; after that portion, I consider ways to execute the process, and think about different mediums to use and little touches I can add to really convey the message.
