As the holiday season was approaching, this year’s “Happy Gilmore”themed annual Fall Rally brought San Dimas High School together for a day of spirited performances from their Dance Team and Cheer Squad, golf-inspired decor, fun and interactive crowd games, and a fresh take on a classic campus tradition.

The rally kicked off with a golf-themed introduction, by the two ASB rally commissioners (Arwen Gutierrez and Sydney Stewart), setting the tone with playful references to the movie, colorful backdrops and posters, and props scattered across the gym that really brought this theme to life. At the start, a “Happy Gilmore” themed Kahoot game was shown for all students to participate, turning the stands into a loud, competitive space as everyone tried to claim their top spot and earn the special prize.

Next, the award winning SDHS Royal Corps Band performed the school Alma Mater, filling the gym with school pride and signaling the start of the recognition portion of the event. While this, the audience cheered as the school honored 3 students, Louis Farias, Ava Aguiar, and Audrey Schlim, who had officially signed the day before; including standouts in the arts, soccer, and softball.
Then, Captains from each fall sport were then called out one by one; for Girls Flag Football, they had Faith Kearns (12th), Audrey Schlim (12th), Leiani Jamie (12th), Ava Aguiar (12th), and Breonna Estrada (11th), come up. Then they called up Girls Volleyball Captains Jayden Hanson (12th) and Natalie Starkey (12th)!
For Boys Waterpolo, Captains Aiden Nazeck (12th), Anthony Corona (12th), and Bryce Yamate (12th) were brought out. Next Girls Golf, Jocelyn River (12th) and Breonna Bentivegna (11th). Then they had the Girls Tennis team captains, Jasmine Angelico (12th), Sophia Cui (11th), Aileen Nguyen (12th), who lead their team to become league champs and qualify for CIF.
After they had Mckayla Arteaga (11th) and Aditya Parata (12th), captains of Cross Country come out. And lastly, Football captains, Jacob Gallegos (11th), Joey Zamorano (12th), Micheal Baeza (11th), and Liam Loyola (11th).

After calling them out and recognizing, Varsity Cheer took the floor with a high-energy stunt routine that immediately got the crowd engaged. Their performance was followed by the national title winning Dance Team, who delivered a creative Adam Sandler–themed number. Dressed in classic Sandler-style outfits to dancing to music inspired by his movies and infamous lines, they matched the rally’s theme perfectly and became an instant crowd favorite. Dance Team Senior, Jessica Liu said, “It was the funniest most interesting hear me out dance we have ever done, yet it was the most fun we’ve ever had at a rally performance!”

To wrap up the rally with some laughter, the captains participated in a chaotic “Snatch the Wig” game; giving the audience something funny and lively to watch firsthand. As the captains raced, dodged, and scrambled across the gym to grab the wigs, it truly became the most successful, interesting, and straightforward game that has ever been played at a rally. ASB Member, Jocelyn Ruelas (11th) said, “This was such a creative theme for a rally, I enjoyed working and decorating this, its truly is such a memorable Fall rally.”
Overall, the “Happy Gilmore” Fall Rally blended school spirit, comedy, and creativity, reminding the students and staff why these traditions continue to bring everyone together year after year; especially for the holidays.
