For the first time in San Dimas High School’s history, two boys have joined the dance team since last year, and now, with the dance team’s season coming to an end, they make their mark and forever make a lasting impact. Jon Kian Razon (senior) and Jacob Marshall (junior) have earned their spots on the team and are reshaping what dance can look like at San Dimas High School for the years to come.

Jon Kian Razon initially joined the team with a strong emphasis on performing only hip-hop dance. In the beginning, Jon came in with no dance background, just his natural groove. Over time, through the several camps, practices, and competitions, Jon improved significantly, and by the end of the year’s dance show, dancing felt natural. With his swag and calm demeanor, matched by his energy and confidence, Jon left his aura with the team, earning the coaches’ Most Aura award.

Jacob Marshall, on the other hand, has become known as one of the team’s greatest assets, being extremely versatile in all areas of dance. Able to perform in all styles of dance, Jacob has stood out throughout the season and has even been recognized as the team’s MVP and most improved by the coaches. Throughout the season, Jacob displayed how comfortable and accepted he feels as part of the team. His extreme dedication and talent have helped prove that dance is for everyone, regardless of gender.
The impact of Jon and Jacob’s participation in dance has already left a long-lasting impression across campus. 2 boys who participated in the sports dance during the final dance show in the BCA have also auditioned and made the team for the 2026 – 2027 season! Their interest shows how Jon and Jacob’s impact has opened doors and encouraged other male students to see dance as something they can be part of, too.

By stepping onto a team that had previously been all-girls throughout San Dimas High School’s years, Jon and Jacob challenged stereotypes and displayed their passion for dance. Their courage to join the team has already inspired future generations of students and may permanently change the course of the dance program. Jon Kian Razon and Jacob Marshall have helped set a new precedent for the San Dimas High School Dance Team, leaving an everlasting legacy.
