Marshmallows and hot cocoa are perfect around this time of year, yet there’s something a lot of us dread: finals. That’s just about as scary as Krampus, yet as Santa comes to the rescue for the kids on December 25th, December 11th is when we could get out that Grinch-repellent and study for those big tests or projects we have. Hosted by Link Crew, this is where the class of 2029 studies to prepare for those finals with collaboration and help. With all the stress that has been funneled into finals right now, the environment of the media center during Cocoas & Cram was a good time with all the snacks, hot cocoa, and even Home Alone playing in the background, making for a nice space for everyone to study as a group of 10th graders.
“I like the free food, I like the Environment, I like that people are coming out to help us.” In essence, that’s what it was: an event designed to help people study, and I believe this event was exactly that. Even the link-crew’s leader was there, Katlyn, the leader of the link-crew thought, “This year has had the most outcomes that kids have had.”
Even one of the assistant principals was there.
And Mr. Ravello said, the event was an innovation that had what was best for our school community. “I’m just supporting and organizing with them, securing the space, making sure they have what they need. But they do all the promotion, they do all the recruiting, they get tutors to come in and support, and then they serve up all the hot cocoa and provide snacks for the kiddos’ souls. Although I’m supporting and responsible for helping them out, they do all the work.” and “Wait, last one, I’ll ask something about that. One thing to add on, you know, when you guys when students are in high school, one of the hardest things to do is ask for help or be vulnerable and say, I don’t know how to do this, or I’m having trouble or difficulty, and getting tutoring is like a daunting thing. You feel like.” and so there we go, all in all, the Cocoa & Cram was a nice event for students to study and chill, you should probably swing by next year when you have the chance.
