As Valentine’s Day approaches, Choir Coffee House 2026 on the 12th brings student performances, sweet treats, and, naturally, coffee together, transforming D6 into a cozy setting befitting the season.
On Wednesday the 12th, that vision came to life as students and families filled D6 for the choir’s annual Coffee House, a Valentine-themed evening of music and community. The event, held every year, once again combined live performances with a relaxed coffee-house-style atmosphere, giving audience members a chance to experience choir in a more intimate setting with individual performances.
From upbeat favorites to emotional ballads, including some more unique pieces, the setlist explored different sides of romance and friendship. Unlike formal concerts performed on a large stage, Coffee House highlights solo acts, allowing performers to showcase their voices and stage presence.
The evening featured performances by Cristian F, Izzy V, Brooke B, Capri G, Amara P, Allison P, Abby and Xyle, Layla L, Evie D, Carolynna L, Leah J, Koda B, Elliot C, Liliana H, Evie P7, each contributing something distinct to the program. Some acts leaned into soft, acoustic styles, even having a few students provide their own accompaniment, while others brought energy and confidence to the room with a more quicker pace. The variety kept the audience engaged and created a smooth flow between reflective and upbeat moments.
D6 was arranged to allow the guests to experience a cozy, café-style evening, the room having more intimate lighting and providing sweet treats and coffee while listening to the perfomances. The setting encouraged connection, as performers stood just feet away from the audience, making each song feel personal.
Preparation for the annual event had almost largely been run by the choir student council, organizing decorations, managing technical elements, and setting up the space. Their collaborative effort taught them many important lessons about running an event and played a key role in shaping the evening’s success.
Choir President Abigail Lawrence reflected on the significance of this year’s Coffee House and the work behind it. “It was my first time leading the production of a ‘Coffee House’… I was a little stressed. I wanted… to prove… how responsible and independent I am. In the end… I made mistakes… even though this was our most successful production to date. If I hadn’t had the help… it would have… been a disaster. I learned… I must rely on the people around me… I can’t do everything myself… I gained leadership experience… and how I need to grow.”
As an annual tradition, Choir Coffee House continues to be one of the most anticipated events, for both family and choir members. It offers a contrast to larger concerts by focusing on closeness and student individuality.
For those in attendance, the night was more than just a performance. It was an opportunity to gather, relax, and celebrate music together.
