As senior year comes to an end and the countdown to graduation approaches, the Associated Student Body (ASB) has begun planning a series of activities to make the senior year memorable. From traditional events like Gradnite or Senior Ditch Day to new ideas from students, ASB is working to create an experience for all and bring students together at the end of their final year.
From Prom to Senior sunset, ASB members have been meeting regularly to organize events that reflect both the school spirit and personality of this year’s graduating class. Months before cap and gowns are handed out, committees begin budgeting, brainstorming themes, and coordinating with administration. One of the highlights of the year is prom. The ASB surveyed students for theme ideas and music preferences and worked with vendors to make the event feel magical. In addition to prom, the committee plans other sentimental events, such as senior sunrise, senior picnic, and a week of themed dress-up days, all designed to strengthen the bond among the graduating class.
After questioning students about themes and ideas, ASB narrows down options and works with venues to bring students together to celebrate their last prom and create an experience that feels meaningful and magical. Decorations, ticket pricing, photo booth, etc., all have to be carefully considered. Senior ASB member Isabella Gonzalez shared her perspective on the effort behind the scenes. “We want everyone to feel like they’re part of something,” Gonzalez said. “This is our last year together, and we’re trying to plan events that bring the whole class closer.”
Chloe Elguria, another senior on the ASB committee, emphasized the challenges of balancing planning with schoolwork. “It can definitely get stressful, especially when we’re juggling everything at once,” Elguria said. “But knowing that we’re creating memories that people will talk about even after graduation makes all the hard work worth it.” Their dedication ensures that seniors can enjoy meaningful experiences during their last months at school.
With graduation approaching, seniors are excited for what lies ahead, but ASB’s work ensures the final months are filled with lasting memories. Thanks to the efforts of Gonzalez, Elguria, and the rest of the committee, the Class of 2026 can look forward to celebrations that reflect both their achievements and the bonds they’ve formed throughout high school.
